Men’s Basketball and Football Teams' Nonconference Schedules
Basketball
The last time we saw the Buffs was back in the NCAA March Madness tournament, falling short and losing in the second round to the Florida State Seminoles. The new season approaches and Colorado Men’s basketball is back with more action as they have released their 2021-22 non-conference schedule. The Buffs’ are receiving headlining non-conference visits from Eastern Washington, Tennessee and the Kansas Jayhawks.
Colorado kicks off the season at home facing Montana State (Tuesday, Nov. 9), then going on to play New Mexico (Saturday, Nov. 13) and finishing with Maine (Monday, Nov. 15) before hitting the road to play in the 2021 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, Nov. 19-22. The Buffs’ first opponents at Paradise Jam will be against Southern Illinois (Friday, Nov. 19). After returning from the Paradise Jam tournament, the team will be competing against two Pac-12 conference teams starting with Stanford (Sunday, Nov. 28) and then on the road at UCLA (Wednesday, Dec. 1), after which they return home ending with five home games.
The Buffaloes arrive back home to battle Tennessee (Saturday, Dec. 18). Tennessee is another March Madness competitor for this upcoming season as both teams will be competing with fresh players making it a solid matchup. They continue on to play Eastern Washington (Wednesday, Dec. 8), Milwaukee (Friday, Dec. 10) and Cal State Bakersfield (Saturday, Dec. 18). Kansas will be the last non-conference scheduled game for the Buffs’ (Tuesday, Dec. 21), leaving anticipation for the rest of the Pac-12 schedule to come out.
Football
The Colorado football team is already making strategic plays with their adjustments to the teams regular schedule with more non-conference games through 2037.
CU athletic director Rick George discussed the team’s recent changes in a press conference., “We’re scheduled out, Wyoming is filling a vacancy in 2025.“We have a home and home series signed with SMU, North Texas, and Oklahoma state, and those go out through 2037,” he said. George mentions Wyoming is filling the vacancy due to Missouri asking to delay the game.
In 2025, CU will be clashing against big non-conference games facing Georgia Tech (Aug. 30, 2025) then heading to Atlanta the following season (Sept. 5, 2026). Shortly after Georgia Tech, the Buffs will travel to play Houston (Sept. 6, 2025) and face-off with Houston the following year (Sept. 12, 2026) at Folsom Field. They finish their last non-conference game in 2025 at home playing the Wyoming Cowboys filling the vacancy of the Missouri Tigers (Saturday, Sept. 20).
Going into 2030-31 the Buffaloes will be greeted with another home-and-home visit from Southern Methodist (Aug. 31, 2030) then return the favor flying out to Dallas (Sept. 6, 2031). Continuing into 2032 and 2033, the Buffs will be treated to another home-and-home sequence by another fellow Texas school, North Texas. North Texas will start the home-and-home series by visiting CU first on (Sept. 4, 2032) and then for the Buffs to return to them (Sept. 3, 2033).
George further discusses the importance of having a presence in Texas as many recruits from the team are from Texas and will be playing in Fort Worth, Houston, Denton and Dallas.. The school has concluded their upcoming schedule through 2031 needing just one more non-conference game in 2029 and 2031.
CU stadiums and fields will be operating at 100% capacity this season. Fans will be able to celebrate their team’s success from the sidelines once again as sports are back.
