CU Boulder in-person courses resume on Feb. 15, and so does the updated monitoring COVID-19 testing
On Feb. 15, in-person courses resume, including those designated as in-person or hybrid in-person. Courses designated as remote or online will continue in those formats for the entire spring semester. Along with in-person instruction, the University will implement an updated monitoring test system in efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. Each week, faculty, staff and students who visit campus — regardless of living on or off-campus — are expected to get tested once a week.
There are multiple monitoring test locations and faculty, staff and students may choose the location that works best for them. The weekly monitoring test is a spit test and you will be asked for a saliva sample. The testing is expected to take approximately two minutes, but be prepared for potential lines.
Though appointments are not necessary, the University has assigned a specific testing day per individual. Check Buff Pass for assigned testing days. Complete your Buff Pass here.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19 with a diagnostic PCR test since Nov. 15, you should not participate in monitoring tests for 90 days after receiving the positive PCR test result. According to the CDC, the duration and robustness of immunity to the virus remains under investigation, but studies show the reinfection is uncommon during the initial 90 days after symptom onset of the preceding infection. If you are exempt, you will not need to complete testing. Reach out to the Pandemic Response office at PRO@colorado.edu with any questions.
The University will provide updates about the Colorado state COVID-19 dial weekly. Boulder County is currently at Level Yellow: Concern, which indicates the county has not returned to normal and public health requirements remain in effect. These requirements include:
- Personal gatherings remain limited to no more than 10 people from two households.
- For our campus community, a household is one or more people who occupy a housing unit.
- On-campus, a household is defined as you and your roommate(s).
- Off-campus, a household means you, your roommates and anyone who lives with you.
- Wear facial coverings and practice social distancing.
- Complete COVID-19 monitor tests.
