Live From Fox Theatre: Sueco Concert Review
From the moment Sueco took the stage at Fox Theatre on Saturday, it was clear that this would be a performance unlike any other. The screaming, jumping, crowd-surfing singer held nothing back for his Boulder crowd.
The 26-year-old producer turned artist from Los Angeles is famous for going viral on TikTok with the rap song “fast.” Sueco has since shown his musical range by releasing pop-punk songs, such as “POS,” which was released in 2023 and has had over 16 million listens on Spotify since.
Sueco’s set included some of his older works, such as “fast”, as well as his most recent release, “Yours,” featuring Bea Miller. With the introduction of each song, the crowd roared in approval.
But, it wasn’t just the music alone that brought this show to life – it was the showmanship and onstage presence of Sueco who is a performer to his core. Sueco instructed the crowd to form mosh pits, where they would violently jump and dance to his music.
Sueco’s ability to control and inspire the crowd was a testament to his prowess as a performer. However, he still managed to maintain a charming sense of relatability to his audience. Sueco even joined the crowd in the pit, thrashing with his fans much to their excitement, and imaginably, to his security team’s dismay.
The apex of the show came when Sueco stood on a platform that was supported only by his fans below. He surfed the crowd, instructing them on where to take him. His guitarist, James Marino, joined and played an impressive riff while the crowd supported him with their hands.
“Are you not f—ing entertained?” Sueco asked.
Indeed, the crowd was. At each moment, you didn’t quite know what was going to happen next. With strong vocals that could turn into violent screaming at any moment, Sueco clearly knew how to externalize his internal reality, and most importantly – how to put on a show.
In “Yours,” Sueco sings the verse, “watch me fall apart,” and through the concert, you truly feel like you are watching this happen, until he quickly composes himself to transition into the next verse, song, or performance hijinx.
Sueco certainly knows how to keep good company as well, as the energy of his band, particularly Marino, only further empowered the show into something spectacular.
People from all walks of life came to dance, jump, scream and swear at Sueco’s eccentric display of counter-culture. And although Sueco famously touts in the song “fast” that he “make[s] beats and bad decisions,” the roaring crowd made it clear that he made the right decision to flaunt his showmanship at Fox Theatre.
