Breaking News: Boulder Police Department actively investigating University Hill shootings
Multiple shootings have been reported in Boulder within the past week.
Boulder police are investigating multiple shooting incidents in Boulder that occurred within the past week, just a few days apart.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, shots were fired on the corner of 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue outside of The Sink, a popular University Hill restaurant and bar. A video of the incident was posted on the Barstool Buffs Instagram account.
According to the Boulder Police Department (BPD) Twitter account, several individuals exchanged gunfire with officers, and at least two of the suspects are currently in custody.
At a BPD press conference Monday morning, Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold stated there were casings found at the scene from three different types of guns, and that at least three other suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
A BPD press release stated that during the incident, one adult male was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police do not believe a separate incident of felony menacing, which occurred at around 2 a.m. in the 1100 block of University Avenue, is related.
According to BPD public information officer Dionne Waugh, police also arrested a man late Monday night for shooting a gun into the air multiple times at different locations while driving.
The Barstool Buffs Instagram account also made a post Tuesday morning alleging that additional shots were heard on the Hill Monday night and that an arrest was made in the parking lot across from The Sink. The post was accompanied by video footage of two women being ordered by police to leave their car with their hands up, for their own safety, before suspects were apparently arrested.
Boulder police said the shots occurred, and shell casings were found, at 7th and Walnut Streets and 11th and Lawry Streets, and the video seen on the Barstool Buffs Instagram is of the arrest where police were able to confront suspects at a traffic stop Monday night.
The Bold reached out to the University for a comment and has not received a response yet.
This is a developing story and will be monitored and updated as more information from the university and the CU Police Department is released.
