Boulder police investigating reports of shots fired on University Hill on Monday

Barstool Buffs, among others call on the University to use messaging alerts when future incidents happen

On Dec. 6, 2021 Boulder police responded to reports of shots being fired around 6 a.m. Monday morning in the area of 12th street and College Avenue

The Denver Post reported that while police responded, they did not find any evidence of property damage being struck and reported no injuries after the incident.

Boulder Police Spokesperson Dionne Waugh stated that police are still in the early stages of the investigation but do not believe there is a threat to public safety.

After the reported shooting, Barstool Buffs, a social media chapter of the national Barstool organization, posted calls to action on Instagram, as no university-related messaging was released until 4:30 p.m. that day.  A Change.org petition was created in the name of the “student body” calling on the University of Colorado Boulder to provide more information to students when incidents occur in a two-mile radius of campus.

The petition cited a need for communication to the student body of any incident with or without the occurrence of an injury.

Investigators are hoping to talk to witnesses, and anyone with any information is asked to call 303-441-3333 and reference case No. 21-11636.
