Dear CU Boulder Community,

We are writing to inform you of our resignation from our positions as members of the editorial board at The Bold, effective immediately.

It has been an incredible honor for each of us to have had the opportunity to work together to produce a publication for CU Boulder’s campus community. We are grateful for the experience and for the skills and knowledge we have gained throughout our tenures at The Bold.

From the beginning of each of our respective tenures at The Bold, we have shared the commitment to making CU Boulder, and more specifically, the College of Media, Communication and Information, a better place to study journalism and practice student media. However, over the past year and in recent weeks, we have found it increasingly difficult and personally tolling to continue to hold our editorial positions and to carry out the duties of these roles at The Bold.

What started as an inspirational goal to better ourselves, our community and our peers’ experience has turned into something unrecognizable to those who have an extended history with The Bold. The student media environment as a whole is contradictory to the founding ideals of our organization: to connect the University of Colorado Boulder campus through empowerment of students of all backgrounds, majors and interests through active mentorship, collaboration and inclusivity.

As students, we are invested both intellectually and financially in our education, and we have reached a point where our experiences with the student media program have contributed more negatively than positively to our overall experience at CU Boulder.

For these reasons, we have formally terminated our relationship with The Bold.

Sincerely,

Cooper Baldwin, Editor-in-Chief

Gabriella Isukh, Managing Editor

Emerson Clymer, News & Politics Editor

Katherine McDonald, Arts & Entertainment Editor
