CUSG Student Body President ticket withdraws during election week
CU Student Government (CUSG) student body president candidates, Crisol Guzman Corral, Casandra Garcia Vega and Brittany Gutierrez Zacarias under the Butterfly Effect ticket have announced to withdraw their candidacy, according to a social media post.
“We want to express our gratitude for your support our journey of learning and discovering more about CUSG. The Butterfly Effect ticket has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the election for tri-executives,” the post read.
The voting for CUSG elections opened Monday, April 3 at 8 a.m and is expected to close on Friday, April 7.
According to the CUSG Election Commission, “they will remain on the ballot however their votes will not be counted and their withdrawal will be reflected in the final results.”
According to Poornima Ramesh, the Election Commissioner, the decision of withdrawal came relatively unexpected but she spoke with the ticket yesterday. “We did meet about it briefly yesterday evening where they expressed their passion for leadership on campus but concerns regarding the system,” she said.
The specific reason for withdrawal is unknown. The Bold has reached out to the Butterfly Effect for comments.
