Breaking News: Boulder county at high community level for COVID-19
Boulder County Public Health department announced Thursday Dec. 1 2022 that the county has moved back to “high community levels,” according to their website.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Data Tracker, Boulder County has 129.68 cases per 100,000 individuals, putting Boulder in a high-risk category for COVID-19 transmission.
Boulder County Public Health held a press release on Thursday, Dec. 1 2022 to announce the rapid increase in cases and hospitalizations, stating that hospitals in the county are under pressure not only due to COVID-19 cases, but also RSV and the Flu.
“We are fortunate to have the roles and resources needed to prevent the worst outcomes. Wear a mask when needed, get tested if you have symptoms, keep up to date on vaccinations, access treatment promptly if recommended for you, stay home if you are sick and practice good hygiene,” said Carol Helwig, Manager for Boulder County Public Health Communicable Disease Control.
Boulder Valley School District also released a notice in November regarding RSV and COVID-19’s added complications to the cold and flu season this year.
“This is typically a season for respiratory viral illnesses,” said Stephanie Faren, BVSD’s director of Health Services in the notice.
The CDC’s suggestions for mitigating the risks of COVID-19 spread in a community of high level spread are to wear a mask or respirator, and to avoid non-essential indoor gatherings if you are at “high risk of getting very sick.”
