Breaking News: CU police department alert notifies community of a reported sexual assault on East Campus
A CU Safety Alert was sent at approximately 2:42 A.M. on Oct. 17 informing CU students regarding a sexual assault that took place on East Campus on Monday.
CU Police Department (CUPD) is currently in pursuit of a suspect who allegedly struck and sexually assaulted a female victim, according to a CU Safety Alert that was sent out early Tuesday morning. The assault occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct.17, 2022 ( a few hours before the alert was sent) and took place outside of the Institute for Behavior Genetics at 1480 30th St. The alert also included this map of the assault’s location.
According to CUPD, the suspect is described as a “tall, white or light-skinned male with a long, dark beard, wearing several layers of clothing. The suspect was also wearing what is described as work-style gloves with removable fingertips.”

Update: “CUPD will increase patrols on campus, including east campus, as staffing allows,” according to CUPD in a statement to The Bold. They emphasized campus safety resources such as the Guardian Mobile Safety App, CU Night Ride, and the Office of Victim Assistance that are available to students.
