A sexual assault reportedly took place Wednesday at Williams Village North, one of CU’s residential halls, according to a CU safety alert sent out Thursday.
The victim is a female CU student. She alleged that at approximately 10 p.m., the suspect knocked on her door, grabbed her by the neck and sexually assaulted her at her residence.
The suspect has been described as a college-aged white man who is about 6 feet tall with dirty blonde hair, and he was allegedly wearing a white or gray shirt and sweatpants at the time of the assault.
Police are reminding students to be cautious when opening doors and to first verbally confirm the identity of visitors before allowing them into their residence hall rooms.
According to a 2015 survey, CU Boulder’s Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) reported that 71% of sexual assaults happen in the fall semester and that first-year students are victimized in 67% of cases.
This is a developing story and will be monitored and updated as more information from the university and the CU Police Department is released.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is encouraged to contact CUPD at 303-492-6666.
