Editor's Note
It’s been nearly one week since graduation, and I don’t even know where to begin with this editor’s note—how to say goodbye. Being the magazine editor-in-chief for the past year has been an incredible experience. I’ve grown as a journalist, a mentor, a communicator, a team member and a person. I’ve met incredible students, interviewed inspiring community members and worked with a remarkable team at The Bold.
For our tenth and final magazine edition for the 2020-2021 academic year, our theme centers on graduation and on looking towards the future—the start of a new era.
A series featured in this magazine edition, called “Senior Spotlight,” was a collaboration between The Bold and the Senior Class Council, sharing six stories of graduating seniors who have made a difference across a variety of fields and colleges at the University of Colorado Boulder. Following this series, Nicholas Kohler, a member of The Bold and Senior Class Council, shares a personal reflection on his college journey. Subsequently, Cayden Stice, a graduating senior and staff writer for The Bold, shares a poem about the highlights of CU Boulder. Our magazine ends with a reflection from yours truly, reflecting on what happens next after graduating.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to or supported this magazine in some way, whether it be writing a story, editing, sharing stories or reading our content. Starting The Bold and The Bold Magazine has been one of the greatest feats of my life. It was often challenging, occasionally frustrating and always rewarding and fulfilling. I feel so honored to have been the editor-in-chief of the magazine this year, and I am so excited to see how the magazine will continue to evolve in the future under new inspiring, innovative student leadership.
This year wasn’t what many of us had hoped for; it certainly wasn’t the senior year of college that I’d imagined having as an incoming freshman four years ago. However, being a part of The Bold and collaborating with such remarkable people throughout this past year has been a true joy. It’s bittersweet to leave, so instead, I’ll just say that I will C U later. 🙂
