New Year, new resolutions
It’s officially a new year, and that means it’s time for New Year’s resolutions. There are several ways to go about this and sometimes it’s hard to pick just one. With COVID-19 still surging, it might be a good idea to have more than one resolution to stay structured throughout the year. Really, think about it and put time into your resolution.
My advice is to pick two resolutions that really speak to you. The first should be something that is achievable, if not once a day, maybe once a week, or even once a month…. something simple like making your bed everyday or putting a certain amount of money away in your bank account monthly. This year, mine is to clean my room weekly and keep everything organized. It is a small promise, but an achievable one. Setting a small goal may seem tedious, but it is actually really rewarding in the end.
The second resolution should be something that is a bigger goal and takes longer to achieve, but is still achievable. It can be something like making sure you maintain a certain GPA during the year or making sure you never miss a class. It also doesn’t have to be school related, it can be an activity too such as creating a scrapbook by the end of the year of your loved ones or friends and then presenting it to them. With this one, I recommend setting small goals along with it. My friend did this one year and seeing the look on her parents’ faces was priceless and rewarding.
Whether you go with one or multiple goals, it is always a good idea to keep that goal throughout the year. I know it’s easy to choose a goal and then forget about it a week later, but continuing to look at these goals throughout the year actually creates structure and organization in your life. Coming from a college student standpoint, this can be rewarding in itself.
