Oscar Award

And the Oscar does not go to...

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that robots cannot receive an Oscar. The rule changes announced recently will take effect for the 99th Academy Awards in 2027. According to the Academy, the role of an actor or actress must be “performed by humans with their consent” to qualify for acting categories. This change addresses the increasing use of AI in films. In addition, screenplays must be written by a human in order to be considered for nominations in the writing categories.
