CU Boulder Campus Trends: Fall Trends

We are back in business. Summer is over and the fall semester has begun. Continue reading to learn about the six most significant CU Boulder Campus Trends.

When I was a freshman in 2020, I was pleasantly surprised to see how every girl dressed at CU Boulder. I remember walking past a girl wearing ripped baggy jeans, a white t-shirt, and doc martens. It was so simple, yet the way she paired each piece of the outfit together made it look incredibly cool. From a small town on the East Coast, my style wasn’t nearly as trendy as Boulder students. So, if you’re a freshman, listen up! The styles you loved and the outfits you wore in high school are most likely extremely different from what you will be wearing in college. I’m providing you the blueprint, the key, the ultimate guideline that I wish I had before attending CU Boulder. Buckle up because here are the six most significant CU Campus Trends.

1.) Baggy Jeans

Years ago, skinny jeans were so in, and now, I have not seen one person on campus wearing them. The go-to jeans seem to be “boyfriend” and “mom jeans”. These styles are very fashionable as you wear a cropped shirt and a cute pair of shoes with them. You can dress the look up or down depending on where you’re headed. I recommend having multiple pairs of these jeans since you wear them a lot when the weather gets colder.

2.) Doc Martens

If you don’t own a pair of Doc Martens, do you even go to Boulder? Every, and I mean every, girl owns at least one pair of Doc Martens. Although they are tough to break in—you will probably get multiple blisters from them—it is so worth it. These shoes go with pretty much anything, or girls at Boulder think they do: jeans, dresses, rompers, and shorts. I think they add an edgy yet stylish look to your outfits. I recommend the Jadon boot, which has shiny leather with a cute platform. You can get these boots in various colors to match all your different style choices.

3.) Nike Air Force

A reliable pair of sneaks mean everything and more. I’ve noticed the most popular  shoe at Boulder is either an Air Force 1 or Air Jordans. These shoes are excellent because they are comfy yet still very stylish. It’s a good thing these shoes are easy to clean because with all the adventures you’ll seek in Boulder, be prepared for these shoes to get a bit dirty.

4.) Biker Shorts

Biker shorts have become a popular trend, and we can thank the resurfacing of Princess Diana photos from the ‘90s for that! They are incredibly comfortable and can be worn in a variety of different ways. Typically, biker shorts are worn with cropped or oversized t-shirts and sweatshirts. I love this look because it strikes the perfect balance between athleisure wear and stylish outerwear. Since we’re in Boulder, there are so many fun hikes to go on and sights to explore. Therefore, you can even wear these shorts with a sports bra and turn them into a cute workout outfit.

5.) Oversized T-Shirts and Sweatshirts

Oversized t-shirts and sweatshirts are a popular go-to-class look. They’re a must! You can make this outfit cute by pairing the oversized shirt with biker shorts and Air Force 1s. The oversized style is great because it is super casual and comfy. You’ll definitely want to stock up on oversized sweatshirts for the winter. Because they keep you incredibly warm, you will end up living in them!

6.) Butterfly Clips

This is a new trend, and the Boulder girls love it! Butterfly clips are a great way to accessorize and spice up your hair. There are so many different styles and colors which makes shopping for them really fun. You can buy a variety of them at Urban Outfitters or Free People on Pearl Street. They sell them at low prices too, which suits that college budget. I see girls wearing these clips around campus as they’re walking to class or even at night when they’re out and about!
